What is important when traveling on vacation to a warm sea?
A vacation by the warm sea is one of the most popular dreams, especially when Lithuania is burdened by routine or gloomy weather. A trip to Turkey, Greece, Egypt or Spain is an opportunity to relax, enjoy the sun and sea waves. However, to make this vacation a pleasant memory, it is worth paying a little attention to preparation and thinking in advance about what can happen.

One of the most important things is travel insurance. Not because something will definitely happen, but because if it does, you want to be prepared.
Why is travel insurance useful?
A beach vacation often seems safe: what could go wrong while lying on a sun lounger with a book? But even in a peaceful environment, surprises can happen:
- you accidentally ate something that wasn’t good for your stomach – poisoning began;
- the sun was too strong – severe sunburn or even heat stroke;
- a child slipped near the pool – the wound needs to be stitched or tests performed;
- Your suitcase is lost at the airport – you are left without your belongings for the first few days.
Such situations spoil the holiday mood and often require considerable expenses. Travel insurance helps cover the costs of treatment, medication, searching for luggage, or even accommodation.
What should you consider if you are on an active vacation?
If your vacation is not limited to lying by the pool, it is necessary to assess the risks:
- Water sports (diving, parachuting, kitesurfing, jet skis, surfing, etc.) may be considered a risky activity – not all insurance policies cover this;
- Mountain excursions, jeep safaris, paragliding, riding motorcycles over 35 kW (and as a passenger), quad bikes – all these are great adventures, but if you do not include these activities in your insurance, it may not be valid in the event of an accident;
- Participation in competitions or training, professional sports are usually not included in insurance coverage and must be planned for and coordinated with the insurance company in advance.
It is important not only to have insurance, but also to choose one that fits your travel plans. If you are going to dive – mark it as insured. If you are planning to ride quad bikes – mention it. The additional risk often costs only a few euros, but can save you from thousands in bills.
What is important to do before a trip?
- Check your health – if you have chronic diseases or take medication, take care of your prescriptions and have enough medications (medicines for diarrhea, stomach disorders, pain, etc.).
- Make sure that your personal documents (LR passport, ID card) are suitable for the intended trip (when traveling to certain countries, a LR passport valid for at least 6 months after the trip is required)
- Familiarize yourself with the insurance terms and conditions – know what situations your travel insurance covers, what to do in case of an accident, where to contact. Have a printed insurance certificate or a saved digital policy with the indicated emergency phone number (often available 24/7 and in Lithuanian);
- Make sure you have appropriate clothing for your destination and time spent there (comfortable shoes, a sweater or light jacket if it’s cool), and sun protection (hat or cap, sunglasses, body sunscreen).
- Assess the weather conditions – for example, in Egypt, summer days can be over 40°C – this is dangerous not only for children, but also for adults, so plan your time realistically.
A peaceful vacation starts with responsible preparation
A trip to the warm sea should bring only joy – the smell of the sea, sunsets, a delicious dinner on the terrace. A little preparation – including travel insurance – helps avoid unpleasant surprises and allows you to truly relax.
So before you leave, stop for a moment and ask yourself:
“If something happens, will I have the help I need?”
If the answer is “yes”, then your vacation will definitely be peaceful.
