The days are getting shorter by almost three hours, so more and more people are driving during the &#8220;golden hour&#8221; during their daily commute: <\/p><ul style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><li><strong>In early September,<\/strong> the sun rises at ~6:20 and sets at ~20:15.<\/li><li><strong>Mid-September<\/strong> \u2013 sunrise ~6:50 AM, sunset ~7:30 PM.<\/li><li><strong>At the end of the month<\/strong> &#8211; sunrise ~7:20, sunset ~18:45.<\/li><\/ul><p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This means that drivers on their way to work in the morning often look directly at the rising sun, and in the evening directly at the setting sun. Even if the sun is shining behind you, it can dazzle another driver in the oncoming lane or a pedestrian crossing the street. <\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-cb0006c elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"cb0006c\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Insurer warnings<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-b73d0f2 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"b73d0f2\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Insurance companies in Lithuania have repeatedly drawn attention to this problem:<\/p><ul style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><li><strong>Gjensidige<\/strong> reports that in 2024 the number of incidents caused by solar glare doubled from 27 to 53. The average damage was around 1.7 thousand euros, and the total amount was almost 90 thousand euros.    <\/li><li><strong>BTA<\/strong> emphasizes that the blazing sun is dangerous not only directly, but also through reflections from wet roads or other cars. The company encourages you to wear sunglasses and even stop in a safe place if necessary. <\/li><li><strong>Compensa<\/strong> recommends that you always wear sunglasses and keep a safe distance during the warm season, as poor visibility combined with stones flying from under the wheels of other cars can put a strain on your wallet.<\/li><li><strong>ERGO<\/strong> points out that dents or scratches on the front side of the glass are particularly dangerous &#8211; they scatter rays even more and increase glare.<\/li><li><strong>Lietuvos draudimas<\/strong> notes that after a darker winter, drivers are not yet accustomed to bright light, which is why accidents increase in spring and autumn.<\/li><\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-991315e elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"991315e\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Global facts<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-c3f6218 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"c3f6218\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The problem of solar glare is not unique to Lithuania.<\/p><ul style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><li>The US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) reports that about <strong>9,000 accidents<\/strong> occur each year due to glare.<\/li><li>Scientific studies show that <strong>the risk of fatal accidents increases by 16% <\/strong>in bright sunlight.<\/li><li>In the United Kingdom, as many as <strong>35% of traffic accidents related to environmental visibility problems are caused by the glaring sun<\/strong>.<\/li><\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-e5c1c71 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"e5c1c71\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">How can a driver protect himself?<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-998d2cf elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"998d2cf\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<ol style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><li><strong>Clean your windows<\/strong> \u2013 both inside and out. Replace your wiper blades on time and use the right washer fluid.
